Sleep with the wildlife of Dartmoor in an open sided cabin with curtains overlooking a spring fed swimming pond and stream into ancient woodland, frequented only by wildlife. You will hear more horses than cars on the distant mossy lane. There are extensive gardens, ponds, waterfalls, bridges, meadows and tin mining archaeology all of which you are welcome to explore. A map is supplied. You have exclusive use of acres of meadows and gardens. Your hosts live out of sight down the valley; they will greet you on arrival.
This unique cabin has super-king or twin beds, Arctic bedding, electric blankets, hot water bottles and throws. The kitchenette has a microwave, small fridge, sink with hot water, double gas camping hob with grill, kettle and toaster. It is tastefully decorated with antiques and there are many books about Dartmoor, wildlife and the historic town of Ashburton. Attached is a private hot shower and composting toilet.
It’s a 35 minute country walk to the historic Stannary Town of Ashburton, as seen on Channel 5’s Antiques Riviera and the famous Ashburton Cookery School. There are details of local walks, a list of over 30 species of birds seen, but maybe bird watchers can see more! We list points of interest, pubs, restaurants and suggestions for trips out. Unlimited wood is supplied free for the wood burner and fire pits.
